Honey - the must have essential in my house!

8th July, 2017
As a child I hated the taste as well as the smell of honey - can you believe it!? I remember when other children used to spread honey on their bread slice and munch it up like there's no tomorrow. That still isn't my cup of tea, however over the years I've began to love honey. Not only that, I have fully replaced sugar with it which I am pretty proud about...

Currently honey is a must have essential product not only in my kitchen, but outside of it too. It has a never ending list of health and beauty benefits and you can never go wrong with that! I mean something so yummy and sweet but healthy at the same time? Yes, please! Have a look below to find out how I use honey in my house.

1. Pretty and delicious salad dressing.
I choose to ditch commercial salad dressing and make this delicious and healthy option instead. All you have to do is combine equal parts of; raw honey, balsamic vinegar and olive oil into a jar and shake lightly. Adding herbs, pepper and a little salt to taste.

2. Natural energy boost.
Ever since delivering my daughter (3 months ago) I have been quiet tired throughout the day. My little angel devil can be quiet a headache sometimes and my energy level can easily reduced after being on my feet all day at my daughter's command! A spoonful of honey can really boost and bring that energy back.

3. Hair conditioner.
Honey makes for a great and natural hair conditioner. Mix 2 tablespoons of honey with a few drops of olive oil and one egg yolk, apply it on your hair and leave it in for 1-2 hours. Rinse, shampoo and conditioner as normal. I repeat such treatment every 2-3 weeks and I have been doing so for about 9 years now.

4. Hair remover.
Yes, you read correctly! Mix one tablespoon of honey with one tablespoon of lemon juice and three tablespoons of brown sugar in a pot. Warm slightly in the microwave and allow mixture to cool, then apply to hair area such as legs using a popsicle stick. Place a small piece of muslin cloth over the area and rub slightly. Leave to dry then peel it off! Don't forget to moisturise the area after the treatment. I also use this for facial cleansing and black heads removal.

5. Insect bites treatment.
Mixing freshly squeezed lemon juice with honey makes a natural antiseptic solution. The natural sugar in honey kills the microorganisms, while the lemon prevents bacteria from taking over. The combination will also reduce the swelling associated with insect bites, and decrease itchiness.

  1. Mmm, these close-up photos of honey are making me crave it (baldy!) on toast haha. I hadn't realised there were so many uses for honey; I'll definitely be giving it a go as blackhead-removal on my nose sometime this summer! Hope you're having a lovely weekend gorgeous :)

  3. I thought it was just me. I hated honey as a child in fact don't ever let me choose between honey and jam, cos you'll have a hungry child on your arms, but like you over the years I've begun to love it, but guess what ( I still can't eat it). It gives me a tummy ache, and I'm not sure what it is, my mum is allergic so I'm wondering if mine is a passive allergy. I love the bit as a salad dressing cos I love salad, I'm so sad cos I would so love to try that one. How's our little darling doing? Hope you guys get to grab some shut eye? Kisses

Ohmygod honey is so important. I made a face mask yesterday out of raw egg whites and honey, and it's such a good moisturiser. When I'm sick too I drink hot honey drinks, it helps prevent illness and keep you well, it's so good.
