Healthy and organic home made blueberry yogurt.

8th June, 2017
I remember the good old childhood days in Poland, living in the country side, beautiful cottage, waking up to the cock every morning (so double-edged lol), being able to pick all the fresh fruit and vegetable I needed from my garden the size of a massive field, to later use for dinner. In other words - heaven on Earth. Back to reality. Busy London, 5x5 garden, 50% of it patio, one palm tree, no fruit or veggies, 2 miles queue in Tesco just to pay £3 quid for a small box of blueberries...

This season I promised myself not to purchase any ready yogurts from the stores and begin to make my own organic ones. Have you ever read the label to see what such a yogurt contains? Neosugar, dimethylpolysiloxane, nanoparticles, artificial flavours, colorants, potassium to maintain freshness, sodium - but the list doesn't stop here. Most of the fruit yogurts contain no fruit in it - but artificial or natural fruit flavouring. Here's how to make your own organic and 100% natural yogurt, I went for blueberries but you can choose any other fruit you like.

You will need:
+ 300g-400g blueberries +
+ 400ml natural yogurt +
+ 3-5 spoons of honey +

All ingredients should be added together and blended. I blend it for 10secs max as I like to taste fruit bits in mine. I also added 5 spoons of honey to balance the sourness of the natural yogurt, however this is optional. If you don't like or are allergic to honey, I would strongly recommend replacing it with a few drops of sweetener for diabetics. Why not chuck a few whole berries in to make it even more fruity !! Such yogurt can be stored in the fridge for up to 5 days.

Why blueberries?
Simply because they are my favourite fruit, not only that! They are rich in Vitamin C which is necessary for the growth, development and repair of all body tissues, it improves the immune system and helps wound healing. Vitamin K which plays a big role in blood clotting, it is also absolutely essential to building strong bones and crucial part of other bodily processes. The fibre in blueberries helps lower the total amount of cholesterol and prevent heart disease.
